I have been away from my blog far too long, and my attempts at promoting and reviewing mobility impaired friendly travel destinations. I had to go into the hospital to have some surgery done, and while there they found Renal Cell Carcinoma in my right kidney, necessitating it’s removal. I am fully recovered now, and am planning to get back into blogging about disability friendly travel reviews. Check back soon for new updates!

Cruise Lines and the Northern Gulf Ports
I am currently working on getting up to date information on cruises that have home ports of New Orleans, Mobile, and Galveston and their accessibility option. It is unfortunate that after contacting Norwegian, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean lines through their so called dedicated “special needs” and “guest support” email addresses, and receiving robomail from two of them stating they would get back to me, they have seemingly no interest in answering my inquiries or just ignored me. You know I do not quit that easy. I will be calling corporate offices starting Monday. I hope to have more info on sites and attractions in New Orleans as the next featured destination after I get the Smokey Mountains destination published to my website. I have it ready to go, but I am waiting on a firewire cable that is on it’s way to add video. I refuse to pay $30 for the cable at Best Buy when I can get it delivered to my house in two days from Newegg.com for under $10. I digress. Check out the website next week for updates and the blog whenever you can!
Cruise Lines and the POrt of New Orleans/Mobile/Galveston
I have contacted the cruise companies to try and arrange for visits to their facilities and tours of the ships currently in use in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully I will be getting some concrete information for people with mobility impairments about these specific ports and ships. The cruise lines are coming under new regulations covering the disabled traveler, and seeing as the number of mobility impaired individuals is increasing as the baby boomers do, hopefully the lines will recognize the potential business benefits and embrace the disabled community.
